A product from the Douro region, Port Wine is unique and has a story to tell.
The discovery of Port Wine occurred when English merchants, eager to increase their trade with Portugal, mixed Douro wine with brandy to prevent it from spoiling on the way. It was then discovered that the stronger and sweeter the wine, the better it tasted.
Its designation appears in the second half of the century XVII, at a time of expansion of Douro viticulture and rapid growth in wine exports, especially to the English market where very high prices were paid.
Today, a few centuries later, Portugal continues to sail around the world to the taste of our Port Wine.
